Lower House Farm

This idyllic venue is nestled in 73-acres of hills, meadows, orchards and woodland-lined streams. Lower House Farm is a rural wedding venue and family farm in the beautiful Black Mountains on the Welsh borders.

The venue offers a stunning and fully restored 17th century stone and oak framed barn, complete with vaulted ceilings and sheepskin adorned benches. It is the perfect backdrop for your rural wedding.

About

Lower House Farm is run by a first-generation farming family. They do things quite differently, farming with nature, slowly and traditionally but with a forward-thinking attitude. Food and drink is what they do, serving high welfare, natural meat and seasonal produce from right there on the farm and the local area, cooked simply and served generously.

They offer glamping by the Olchon brook which runs through the farm, as well as self-catering accommodation at their beautiful country house, Old Great Marlborough, a short drive away.

Facilities

With the dramatic mountain backdrop, Lower House Farm is the perfect location for a wildly magical wedding that is unique to you.

The Barn

This fully restored 17th century barn features high vaulted ceilings, original oak beams, flagstone floor with underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove. Folding doors open onto a beautiful lawn and wildflower meadow with plenty of space for guests to explore. Enjoy your meal served on long banqueting tables and then, come sundown, the barn is transformed for evening shenanigans with space for a live band or DJ.

Wedding breakfast capacity - 114 guests
Evening reception capacity - 140 guests

Exclusive to you, couples have access to the farm for the whole day, including an oak framed marquee, restored railway carriage and paths to the brook and secret waterfall. Hire includes use of the barn the day before to add your own personal touches, to 11am the day after.

Catering

From arrival canapés to your feasting banquet and evening food, the team of experienced chefs will keep you and guests well fed with food from the wood-fired kitchen.

We had the most fabulous wedding day at Lower House Farm. It was perfect! As soon as we arrived at the top of the drive and saw the beautiful hills and the farm nestled in the valley, we just knew that this was the perfect place for us. The team were so welcoming and helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble.

  • Clive and Ida

Thank you so much for all your hard work and style and grace that went into making our wedding so perfect. It was a pleasure to plan with your help. The farm was beautiful, the food was fabulous and everything went so well. You got rave reviews from our guests as well.

  • Beth and Chris

We literally can't express how grateful we are for making out big day so special, but we're going to try... We came here for Anna's birthday last year, and as we drove down the drive we looked at each other, grinned, and said "let's get married here!" And that's even before we met you both and tried the wonderful food! This is such a unique location and you have all worked so hard to make a fantastic, homemade and relaxing place where friends and family can meet to celebrate with each other.
