History

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery first opened its doors in 1885. The landmark building is Grade II-listed and is an influential building within the city centre of Birmingham. The art gallery is famous for its Pre-Raphaelite collection of paintings, which is one of the largest in the world.

The building itself is a fine example of Victorian architecture. A grand and formal stone exterior, complete with complicated asymmetrical shapes, steep roofs and textured walls, this building is typical of the architecture seen under Queen Victoria's reign.

By hosting your wedding day at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery you will be contributing to the museums charitable trust. The support from weddings and events generates enough income to deliver educational programmes and take care of the extensive collection housed in the museum, currently reaching over 800,000 items.

Waterhall

The Waterhall is a visual masterpiece with its impressive high ceilings, floodlit with natural light, stunning architecture and not forgetting its fine art collection gracing the walls. The space is elegant and sophisticated, providing a romantic back drop to your wedding day.

Round Room

If you love fine Victorian architecture then you are going to love the Round Room. The ornate glass domed ceiling and grand collection of art set the scene for a glamorous wedding reception. With minimal changes the room stands as it would of in 1885, and you are able to enjoy these surroundings for your wedding breakfast.

Edwardian Tearooms

When the last mouthful of taste bud tickling dessert has been licked from the spoon, and the champagne flutes are empty, you and your guests are invited to the Edwardian Tearooms to dance the night away.

Catering is included within the wedding packages, where the dedicated team will provide a delicious three course wedding breakfast or standing buffet selection.
