History

Fontwell Park was founded and established by Alfred Day, a professional horse trainer who was operating at The Hermitage from 1887. By 1924, he had purchased sufficient land to create a racecourse in Fontwell. He opted firstly for a hurdle track, which was of normal type, but subsequently a steeplechase course in the shape of a figure of 8, which proved to utilise the site-space best.

It is the National Hunt course where Princess Elizabeth, later Queen Elizabeth II, achieved her maiden win as an owner in 1949!

Fontwell House

You can choose to host both your civil marriage ceremony and reception party in the gorgeous principal room of the main house.

Paddock Suite

The Paddock Suite and draped marquee are set amidst private lawns and are ideal for parties of up to 250 guests. The marquee is carpeted, comfortably equipped, heated if necessary, and has a lavender-lined decking area which is ideal for al-fresco dining!

Premier Suite

Benefitting from its floor-to-ceiling windows, this contemporary and stylish suite is naturally lit and enjoys its own private balcony.

Asian Weddings

The venue is ideal for Asian weddings involving a considerable number of guests. It can accommodate up to 300, or 700 with a marquee reception. Specialist outside caterers are engaged for Asian weddings; the venue work with several trusted companies.

Whether you would prefer a traditional wedding breakfast or alternative barbecue, the team at Fontwell Park can serve whatever you desire. They provide sample menus, which can be adapted to satisfy your own and your guests' tastes. A full children's menu is also served. You will be offered a tasting session so you can sample your chosen cuisine and meet the talented team of chefs.

Accommodation

There is no accommodation available on site, but plenty of all types in the vicinity - including a Travelodge right outside the gate!
