High House, located in Althorne, is something of a marvel. An award-winning wedding venue found nestled within the rolling Essex countryside, set within six acres of English country gardens. The rustic Essex barn, thatched gazebo and exceptional marquee marry perfectly with the large pond, Monet inspired bridge and stunning weeping willow. High House belongs to the Hollingsbee family who have lived in the Grade-II listed farmhouse on the estate since 2002. For over 600 years, High House has been home to families and throughout that time has changed from a dairy farm to an apple orchard. In 2015 High House opened its doors as a wedding venue and has won countless awards since.
Unlike many other wedding venues, High House boasts its very own vineyard. The Althorne Estate was planted in 2017 and now provides the grapes for High House's very own award winning English Sparkling Wine. On your wedding day raise a toast with this unique wine, undoubtedly a very special touch indeed.

What bride doesn't love a little glamour on the morning of their wedding day? From 9am you are able to make use of the oak framed dressing room which overlooks the swimming pool. The Orangery is luxury personified, with its dressing tables, changing room and sumptuous furnishings.
Couples have the choice of having their ceremony in the rustic barn or an outdoor ceremony in the thatched gazebo. The choice is yours!
With views spanning the heart-shaped lake, surrounded by flowers and wildlife, this is truly a remarkable location to exchange your vows.

The Grade-II listed barn was awarded "Barn Wedding Venue of the Year 2020", and we are not surprised. Originally built in 1750, the barn oozes character with its rustic oak beams and exposed red brick. Natural light pours into the space, ensuring this is a magical setting to say "I do".

The Marquee provides an exceptional setting to be wined and dined. With spectacular views of the lake, you and your guests will celebrate in style. As the sun dips behind the horizon, the evening fun begins. With a black and white dance floor, twinkling star cloth lining and a stage, you can be sure your evening reception will not disappoint.

Hidden within a secret garden you will find the Bride's Cottage. The little cottage is behind an enchanting solid oak door, set within the gravel gardens and surrounded by cottage flowers. The bedroom has a freestanding bath, en-suite bathroom, lounge and kitchen, and provides the most idyllic setting and privacy for your wedding night.
The Guest Lodge provides two en-suite bedrooms which can be offered to your bridal party. The lodge is as sumptuous and luxurious as you would expect.
