Found hidden in the heart of the idyllic Dorset countryside, Kingston Maurward is a 18th century house with extensive gardens, manicured lawns and a serene lake. This tranquil and peaceful setting is the perfect location to celebrate your wedding day. Upon arrival you will be swept off your feet by its impressive drive winding through the parkland before arriving at the Georgian mansion. The ornate rooms boast original oak panelling, marble fireplaces and hand-painted Italian wallpaper, providing a exquisite backdrop to your wedding day.

Kingston Maurward is a classic English country house wedding venue, providing a friendly and professional service whilst also catering to your individual requirements. The stunning setting, quality food and wine teamed with their knowledgeable staff makes this a very impressive wedding venue indeed.

History

This historically and architecturally fascinating manor house was originally created for a member of the affluent Pitt family, George Pitt, circa 1717. Over almost 300 years of existence, the house has been modified on just a handful of occasions and still retains a wealth of original features, making it worthy of its prestigious Grade I listing - effectively placing it in the same category as other historic buildings such as Buckingham Palace and Tower Bridge in London, and the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. Today the house and estate is home to the renowned Kingston Maurward Agricultural College, specialists in land-based studies.

Facilities

Kingston Maurward offers exclusive use of all the state rooms during your wedding day. You can choose which rooms you wish to use to create your perfect layout. There are also reception rooms and other hidden quiet areas. The five state rooms available to you are as follows; the Grand Entrance Hall, Pengelly Room, Whatmoor Room, Old Library and Maurward Hall.

The Grand Entrance Hall

If high ornate ceilings, decadent chandeliers and marble fire places sound like your dream wedding backdrop then the Grand Entrance Hall is perfect for you. This room is the dream location for reception drinks and delicious canapes. If your wedding is slightly larger then this space will be used in conjunction with the Pengelly Room for your reception drinks.

The Old Library

Complete with magnificent bookshelves, rich solid oak panelling and a beautiful fireplace, the library is a spectacular setting for your civil ceremony.

The Pengelly Room

Formally know as the music room, this room is located through the Grand Entrance Hall and it has stunning views of the manicured lawns and five-acre lake. The room itself is unique with its richly decorated hand-painted Italian wallpaper.

The Whatmoor Room

Adjoined to the Pengelly Room, this room offers equally beautiful views of the lake and lawns. With a terrace, this is a great location for outdoor drinks.

Maurward Hall

The Maurward Hall is used for larger weddings and events. Many brides and grooms transform this room into a wedding oasis with drapes and twinkling fairy lights.
