Morden Hall

You might be forgiven for thinking that you were deep in the British countryside at Morden Hall - when in fact you're just a quick walk away from a London Underground tube station. The gorgeous venue is located on the southwestern outskirts of the capital along its Surrey border, revelling in its 125 acres of stunning parkland, a section of the River Wandle meandering gently through.

The mansion itself is bursting with historic tales and fables, yet has been lovingly brought into the modern day with an eclectic design mix both inside and out. The interior showcases a period feature fireplaces, a majestic staircase and grand décor, and can admit a fantastic amount of natural light. Wedding parties can make use of a variety of different rooms, perfect for ceremony and/or reception.

About

This verdant oasis on the outskirts of London boasts a range of agricultural and industrial history. Currently a peaceful deer park, Morden Hall is one of the few remaining country estates bordering the River Wandle as it approaches the conurbation. Lots of wildlife claim the gardens as their home, and you can admire the snuff mills which were integral to the economic stability of the estate during its heyday. Despite its location next to the hustle and bustle of London, the setting of the park feels completely rural.

Morden Hall was originally owned by Westminster Abbey, and there is evidence of at least one earlier manorial house on the site. The surviving Morden Hall dates back to the 1770s, when it was owned by the Garth family and subsequently occupied as a school for young gentlemen. It served as a military infirmary in WWI, and was left to the National Trust when the last owner died.

Facilities

Hawthorn Suite

This drawing room epitomises the height of Georgian elegance, and boasts magnificent views over the parkland. The Hawthorn Room showcases a fireplace, tall sash windows and high ceilings as well as statement lighting. This Suite is traditionally used as a dressing room to prepare for the ceremony.

Cherry Suite

This tastefully decorated dressing room is an extension to the Hawthorne Suite. It is the perfect place for brides to slip into their dream dresses but can also be used as an intimate space for the newlyweds to take a private moment and process their special day!

Sycamore Suite

Perfect for the groom! This alluring suite is another snug space where traditionally the groom and his groomsmen get suited and booted whilst the groom prepares his vows as well as enjoy a glass of bubbles to calm his nerves before saying 'I do'.

Willow Suite

This charming, light-filled room is decorated in romantic warm bright colours, which perfectly complement any chosen colour scheme or flower arrangement. The majestic staircase at the back of the room is an ideal staging for the bride to descend before saying her vows.

Oak Suite

An intimate ground-floor room with doors leading onto the North Lawn, this versatile space can be used to display the cake throughout the day with a beautiful backdrop of our garden and wildlife.

Mulberry Suite

With high, vaulted ceilings and fancy décor, the Mulberry Room accommodates up to 150 guests for a lavish wedding breakfast. Ceremonies with a greater number of guests may also be conducted here.

Catering

When it comes to food and drink for your special day there are a selection of chosen caterers who pride themselves on super tasty food which looks tantalisingly delicious. The chosen caterers cover a range of cuisines and all follow the ethos of quality and reliability. Please ask the wedding team for a copy of the caterers' brochure to find out more information.

Accommodation

There is no accommodation on site, but finding hotels nearby won't be a problem. You're just a tube ride or short taxi journey into Central London - or, if you are travelling the other way, there are plenty of accommodation options in more rural parts of Surrey.

The day was truly incredible!! Our guests had the most amazing time, the venue looked unreal and the day went so smoothly, thanks to you all.
    A special thanks for allowing us to arrive early, after a less than ideal start with our flood at home! It was such a relief to be able to turn up at Morden Hall and switch off from the mornings disaster. Two years in the making and it's quite strange to think it's all done, but it's been an absolute pleasure, so once again, a huge thank you to you, Martha and all the team at MH!

    I can't recommend the team at Morden Hall enough. We had a beautiful, all-day ceremony which was absolutely seamless.
    Marta was amazing, from the first consultation to the big day, itself. She knew what would work and how we could make our ideas come to life - it was a pleasure working with her.
    The venue itself was ideal for what we wanted, the grand rooms, the gardens and grounds, and all the natural light really made a huge difference to our day.

    This wedding venue is absolutely stunning. It was the only one I visited and had my heart set on it as soon as I did. We had our ceremony here too which was simply magical, from an entrance down the stairs to the aisle. The drinks reception out on the lawn is a spectacular way of enjoying the vast greenery and even wildlife at Morden hall. We had some floral decorations but other than that Morden hall is so beautiful in itself it doesn't need much work. Our coordinator Marta was the best! I had planned the wedding myself and had full confidence in Marta to take over on the day, she was absolutely indispensable, the day run smoothly and I felt at ease. Morden Hall is such a lovely gem in the middle of the city- truly a magical escape for a wedding of my dreams!

    Hi Kate,
    Alyssa and I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you for everything you have done over the last few months. Your flexibility, support and willingness to accommodate our ever changing plans was much appreciated. Although very different from our original plans for last year, Friday was a perfect day and felt very special to us both. Many thanks also to Isabel for her help on the day.

    All our guests thought Morden Hall looked beautiful as a venue despite us doing very little to decorate it for the day. They are all looking forward to returning next year and being able to properly celebrate and enjoy the food and drink you and Kalm Kitchen have to offer. Apologies if there were times during the day when they didn't stick to social distancing/their bubbles - it was the first time many of my family had seen each other in person for months or even over a year and perhaps some got a bit emotional and carried away with the occasion!

    You'll be relieved that this is properly the last you'll hear from us for a while! We hope the next few months proves to be a busy but enjoyable wedding season for all of you at Morden Hall and look forward to getting in touch later in the year or early next year to plan our April 2022 celebration!
