The Little Theatre

Nestled away in the honey-coloured centre of historic Bath is The Little Theatre. A much-loved arts cinema full of 1930s charm and character, this venue offers couples the unique opportunity to exchange their marriage vows within one of its two stylish auditoriums.

The cinema is fully licensed to host civil wedding ceremonies and the cost of hiring the venue includes exclusive use of one screen and its projector, staffing costs, and professional help with the detailed planning of your big day.

About

One of the most highly-reputed arts venues in Bath, The Little Theatre was built in 1935 and has been operating as an arts community cinema ever since, as well as annually hosting the acclaimed Bath Film Festival.

This charming picture-house boasts magnificent 1930s architecture, as well as an outdoor square framed by the grand, opulent buildings of the Georgian city of Bath.

One of the most exciting reasons to have a Little Theatre wedding is the use of their projection and sound facilities to add that personal touch. From starring in your own short film to walking down the aisle to your favourite piece of music, your guests will experience a wedding like no other.

Screen 1

The theatre's largest auditorium has comfy seating for up to 110 guests and a large decorated stage for the ceremony itself. With stunning white draping, bay trees with pretty fairy lights, Victorian vintage-style bird cages along with a table adorned with flowers and lighting for the signing of the register.

Screen 2

If you are looking for a more intimate ceremony space, then take advantage of the Little Theatre's second auditorium, located upstairs in screen two, with equally comfortable seating for up to 67.

Civil ceremony capacity - 67 guests

There is a bar and greeting area just outside the screen as well as a quaint courtyard where you and your guests can enjoy drinks and popcorn whilst reflecting on your ceremony.

This fully-licensed film theatre offers a range of packages from vintage extravaganza to a simpler and more modest affair, the dedicated staff at The Little Theatre will ensure your special occasion is every bit as perfect as you've always envisioned.     On a visit to Bath one weekend, my fiancé and I took a late afternoon visit to the Little Theatre Cinema. We had been looking for a wedding venue but had been quite disheartened by the conveyor belt of run-of-the-mill wedding venues we had looked at already. We instantly fell in love with this beautiful little cinema and on chatting to the friendly staff they mentioned that they did weddings there, we were so excited and knew this was the place for us!

    In the lead up to the wedding, the team were so helpful, making sure that every detail was covered from Music through to decoration. They also tested out the film we made prior to the wedding to check for any issues and checked and double checked all our requirements to make sure all would run smoothly.

    On the day, all the staff at The Little Theatre made every effort to make sure our event was every bit as amazing as we hoped, little details were seen to such as making cinema tickets to give to all guests on arrival and film posters to go outside. Jessica and Amanda gave us advice on which company to source our wine from and staff were very helpful in finding us a photographer who knew the venue well.

    I would completely recommend 'The Little Theatre' to anyone who wants something unique and special for their wedding ceremony. The staff could not have done enough for us from even before booking with them. Thank you all at The Little Theatre for making our day so wonderful.

    Having grown up around Bath, I knew I wanted our wedding ceremony in a place that captured the city's unique and beautiful qualities and that also represented us as a couple. The Little Theatre is and was exactly that! The cinema inside and out is gorgeous and the wedding team did an amazing job of setting the scene with lots of vintage touches. The team at The Little Theatre were outstanding and no question was left unanswered or was too much trouble, everything was superbly organised on the day and we felt really looked after. In short our day was perfect and The Little Theatre was a massive part of that, I only wish we could do it all again now!
