The Reading Room

This enchanting wedding venue in the heart of rural Norfolk is the ideal location for historians and book lovers alike. The redbrick walls and expansive gardens make the venue perfect for a fairytale wedding.

Able to host 80 for a wedding ceremony, both indoors and in their stunning gardens, and 110 for a reception the venue is also in close proximity to a number of local churches.

About

Newly restored, The Reading Room is believed to date back to the 17th Century. It once served much as a local library, giving the locals access to books, news and lessons as well as being a place for games and socialisation.

Now the Room has been restored to its former glory and serves as an incredible wedding or reception venue. The church of St Ethelbert's towers above the venue, the perfect place for people looking to have a church wedding before moving over to The Reading Rooms for their reception.

Facilities

The Reading Room offers the option of marrying inside the room itself or in the grounds. Both options are equally stunning. The Room offers a traditional backdrop of a redbrick exterior, fresh white interior and rustic wooden accents across the arched windows and roof.

The garden offers a traditional English garden with colourful bordering flowerbeds and lovely fruit-trees. The venue is surrounded by enchanting woods perfect for giving your wedding photos a magical feel.

The venue does not offer packages but included within the standard hire price are: exclusive use of the venue, use of bar, tables and chairs and much much more.

Ceremony capacity - 80 guests

Wedding breakfast capacity - 110 guests

Reception capacity - 110 guests

Catering

The venue does not have an onsite kitchen, though they are happy to provide tables and a catering marquee for your caterers to use. They are happy to either provide a list of trusted caterers or discuss plans with your chosen caterers.

In order to ensure the health and safety of all guests on the premises they do insist on any external caterers having a five star hygiene rating and insurance.

It is a lovely, self-contained place with beautiful gardens that were ideal as the weather was good and everyone made the most of being outside.
