Hestercombe Gardens

An historic Grade I-listed estate, there are few locations across the South of England so rich in culture, heritage and beauty than Hestercombe. Licensed for civil wedding ceremonies, with a pet-friendly policy and full disabled access, the fifty acres of stunning gardens and enormous house can host your entire day, from an intimate ceremony to a sizeable reception and evening festivity.

Within easy reach of Taunton and the M5, Hestercombe features its own in-house catering team and designated wedding planner to make your day as stress-free as possible. Georgian, Victorian and modern elements integrated in the house and grounds, such a stylish wedding venue would be difficult to match elsewhere.

History

Elements of the estate date as far back as the 11th century, and Hestercombe has witnessed successive contributions all through the ages. Owners and architects range from Georgian resident John Bampfylde in the mid-1700s - responsible for altering the original Tudor house to its present frame - to Sir Edwin Lutyens who, together with Gertrude Jekyll, gave life to the immaculate garden designs you and your guests can still marvel at today.

The gardens themselves showcase a diverse, fascinating series of romanticised, historically restored buildings - for example, the Tuscan Doric-style Temple Arbour that overlooks the picturesque Pear Pond. As well as the individually striking Gothic Alcove, the overlooking Orangery building still serves today as an attractive, intimate location in which to host smaller wedding ceremonies.

Whilst a selected menu is available to peruse and choose from, the catering staff are always open to personalised requests from the wedding party. Open Day

Sunday 3rd May, from 11am to 3pm

For an exclusive chance to see Hestercombe as it could be on your wedding day, the team host regular open days. At the next one, you'll have the chance to look round the venue, meet with their talented team and sample canapés, as well as browsing dresses, flowers and cakes provided by some of Hestercombe's most trusted suppliers. On the day I didn't have to worry about a thing (except my lippy staying in place). The teams worked in the background and how on earth they managed to work around us with no one noticing, I'll never know. The day its self was faultless, the canapes and food were lovely and the atmosphere was relaxed. Whatever it is Hestercombe are doing, please, keep doing it!
