History

Ken's Kars was the product of Ken Harmer's passion and keen hobby for restoring and driving vintage cars. Between the 1950s and 1960s, Ken and his father ran and owned the only 24-hour taxi company in Chipping Sodbury. The cars they used were 1930s Austins.

Ken set up the car hire business in 1983 with his wife. At this point there were seven Austin 18s in the fleet; all restored and maintained by Ken. In 1988 Ken's son Roy added two American 'gangster' cars to the fleet.

Ken's Kars has been lovingly passed along to his grandson Wayne who shares the same passion for vintage cars.

The Cars

The fleet is comprised of a range of '20s and '30s genuine vintage cars built up and restored by Ken. There is a mix of English Austins and American 'gangster' style cars. Each car has a different colour scheme, meaning you can find the perfect car to match the colour scheme of your wedding.

Each car can seat up to four people with exception of the Austin York that can hold up to six people.

1928 Studebaker Dictator

This gorgeous car has burgundy and black coachwork and white wall tyres. As an American car, it is known to be a typical 'gangster' style car. The interior still holds its original burgundy velour seating.

1937 Austin York Saloon (seats 6)

The perfect colour for a wedding, this stunning ivory car has a black roof and dark red interior. The Austin York can seat up to six people, perfect if you want to travel along with your bridesmaids.

1932 Oldsmobile Patrician

Another American addition to the fleet, this was imported from Pennsylvania in 1987. With beige and burgundy bodywork, this statement car has impressive dual side mounts.

1930 Studebaker Commander

With a silver and dark red exterior that contrasts incredibly well, this car is perfect if you want to make a statement.

1936 Austin Westminster

This is a typical vintage car perfect to carry brides, with its ivory exterior and interior.

1935 Austin Westminster

The car that inspired and began it all, this royal blue and black car is the ideal classic English car. The interior is beige cloth.
