Thoresby Park

In an estate that was once described as a palatial residence, and yet serene in its gorgeous green Sherwood surroundings, stands a barn wedding venue far removed from haybeds and rickety ladders. Amidst the most lush, picturesque landscape, the Riding Hall is a Victorian-esque space that you can truly make your own.

Upon booking your wedding you will get a Thoresby wedding planning guide to help you chisel out every aspect of your special day and ask the experienced team all the questions you need the answers to. They are keen to help you create a unique and special event. Throw in the delicious food, created by any of four carefully selected caterers, a host of housing options, and the fact that it and its secret garden are exclusively yours from 9am to 1am, and you may have just found your dream venue.

History

Thoresby Park is a magnificent, sprawling estate that was once the pride of the Pierrepont family, with great lawns, designed gardens, and rich forests. The Riding Hall, the former stables, is a spectacular red brick building where your wedding celebrations will take place.

There are countless buildings and outhouses, businesses and even jewellers on site to help form your dream day. There is even a nearby church if you desire a beautiful religious wedding ceremony before your reception.

The park is protected by Stonebridge Trust, meaning that your wedding will help contribute to the preservation of such a special estate.

Facilities

The Riding Hall

This Victorian style barn is much more than a simple barn wedding venue, and certainly is far from the stables in once was. The exposed red bricks, high wooden beams and arched brick trusses support the grand vaulted ceiling and allow plenty of space for decoration in your own style, including festoons of fairy lights or fabric drapery. There is even a secret garden escape at the rear to relax in and take those all-important photographs.

Civil ceremony capacity - 120 guests
Wedding breakfast capacity - 180 guests
Evening reception capacity - 200 guests

  • Libby

Amazing service from start to finish. We loved working with the Thoresby team, and would thoroughly recommend the venue.

  • Amanda

Amanda and the team were brilliant. Our daughter's wedding went beautifully yesterday, the staff on the bar were amazing, even providing the jaded mother of the bride a perfect pick me up when I began to flag.

The guests all commented how amazing the venue looked, and what a brilliant thing to hold the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening disco in the one place.

  • Laura

I can not recommend Thoresby Weddings enough! Our wedding day was completely perfect.

Staff were incredibly helpful, nothing was too much, and everything so seamless on the day! They communicated just the right amount and were able to answer all of our questions. The interior of the riding hall is stunning, perfect for a rustic wedding, with brickwork, huge wooden beams and beautiful big windows. The grounds topped everything off with endless places to go for couple and group photographs. It's now such a special place for us both. We have just had our first year anniversary and purposefully came back to walk around the grounds of Thoresby to celebrate.

  • Bryn

They were so welcoming, accommodating and professional. We could not have asked for a better service than the one they provided. All throughout the run up to our wedding day, they offered every ounce of help that we required and were very very good, everything we needed explaining was explained, we like to think that thanks to their help, we were able to stay as organised and calm as we did. Come the day of our wedding we were blown away, the venue looked outstanding, they had taken our simple ideas and made them look truly magical, they really looked after us and all of our guests and we will be forever grateful to them for that, even when we went to collect all our belongings a couple of days later, we could tell they were busy, yet the team still went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful wedding day and helped us gather our stuff! Thank you Thoresby Weddings team, never change.

  • Hollie

The amazing thing about Thoresby Courtyard and Riding Hall is how flexible literally everything is, from how to decorate the venue, to the catering you can choose, to the drinks you can have! And of course we were able to have our fireworks! This isn't a "flat pack wedding" or a conveyer belt where every wedding there looks the same. The hall really is a blank canvas to do as much or as little as you want with it.

From the moment we met Amanda at the open day I knew we could completely trust that she would ensure our wedding went without a hitch, and give it as much attention and energy as her own wedding! I always plan everything within an inch of its life, and even I was impressed by her organisation and attention to detail in the whole process. You are able to do as much or as little as you want, and Amanda will help and advise you all the way.

  • Liane

Thank you to Amanda and all the team for helping us create our perfect day. Beautiful venue, stunning location and fabulous people to plan and work with. Nothing was too much trouble and the day ran smoothly and effortlessly.

  • Anastasia

We got married at Thoresby Courtyard Riding Hall on Friday and it was absolutely stunning.
The venue itself is spectacular; it looks so beautiful it's ridiculous! But what really made the day was the amazing Amanda and Theresa! I'm the most awkward bride in the history of the world, but nothing was too much for them, they made me feel at ease, supported me throughout the planning process, and were just there to provide support and everything on the day. They're both absolute saints and we're so thankful for everything. Go view the riding hall, you'll fall in love, book it and your wedding day will be absolutely magical!
